Interactive Installation
Galaxies is an interactive floor projection that transforms human presence into an abstract, cosmic landscape. Installed in the open space of the Wissenswerkstatt Bielefeld during Nachtansichten 2025, the work presented a dark, star-like visual field that responded to visitors' movements in real time.
As people entered the projection area, the surrounding points began to rotate and organize themselves around their position, forming dynamic, galaxy-like structures. Each person generated their own system, with stars orbiting and reacting to movement. When two visitors moved close to each other, their individual galaxies gradually merged into a larger, shared formation.
The installation explored themes of proximity, interaction, and collective behavior. Individual presence shaped the visual environment, while closeness and encounter led to transformation and a sense of fusion. Rather than depicting realistic astronomical imagery, Galaxies used abstraction to suggest cosmic processes as a metaphor for human interaction in shared space.
By placing the work as a large-scale floor projection, visitors became an integral part of the visual system. Movement, distance, and relationships between people directly influenced the evolving structures, creating a continuously changing composition shaped by collective presence.
